REEPOT Masters is an education program for physicians using REEPOT laser technology. Its structured curriculum connects the fundamental principles of the device with practical decision-making in pigmentation treatment. During this program, Dr. Kim shared clinical experience in assessing pigmented lesions, planning treatment and evaluating post-treatment changes.

REEPOT Basic: principles and pretreatment assessment

The Basic session addressed the fundamental principles of REEPOT laser treatment, treatment indications, pretreatment lesion assessment, procedural concepts and expected skin changes after treatment. The emphasis was not simply on understanding how a laser operates, but on identifying appropriate lesions and choosing a strategy suited to the patient’s skin characteristics and clinical presentation.

Dr. Kim discussed the considerations that inform clinical use, including the characteristics of the lesion and the surrounding skin. This assessment provides a basis for deciding whether a particular laser approach is appropriate, rather than assuming that similar-looking pigmentation should be treated in the same way.

REEPOT Advanced: clinical decisions and aftercare

The Advanced session explored treatment strategies for a variety of pigmentation cases. Drawing on clinical experience, Dr. Kim shared approaches to lesion assessment, treatment planning and procedural decision-making, together with post-treatment evaluation, follow-up and aftercare.

The session also highlighted that lesions with a similar surface appearance may have different underlying characteristics and treatment responses. Accurate diagnosis and appropriate laser selection therefore remain central to clinical planning.

Why pigmentation assessment comes before laser selection

Planning pigmentation treatment involves more than selecting and operating a device. The lecture emphasized a combined assessment of:

  • The type and characteristics of the pigmented lesion
  • The depth of the lesion and the condition of the surrounding skin
  • Possible coexisting pigmentation disorders, including melasma
  • The risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

These factors help guide an individualized treatment plan. Participation in a physician training program does not mean that REEPOT is suitable for every lesion or guarantee an individual treatment outcome. Treatment decisions require clinical assessment.

Continuing physician education and academic exchange

As a REEPOT lecturer for CLASSYS, Dr. Kim participates in education and lectures for physicians in Korea and internationally, sharing clinical perspectives on treatment principles, pigmentation assessment and practical treatment strategies. Dr. Kim plans to continue medical education and academic activities based on experience in pigmentation disorders and skin aging care.
