REEPOT was not developed for the purpose of treating melasma, and substantial improvement in true melasma should not be expected from it.
“Someone I know says REEPOT cleared their melasma. How is that possible?”
This question often arises because everyday names for pigmentation differ from medical terms. The round brown spot illustrated here is a solar lentigo. In ordinary conversation, people may call many different dark marks “melasma,” leading to the impression that REEPOT has cured melasma in one session.

Solar lentigines may respond well to REEPOT
If the lesion is a solar lentigo, a small number of REEPOT treatments may produce a favorable result. If it is genuinely melasma in the medical sense, the course is usually more complex and prolonged.

Melasma and solar lentigines have substantially different characteristics. Treatment therefore needs to distinguish between them rather than treating the two names as interchangeable.
